President Trump, according to a White House document sent to congressional staff and obtained by Bloomberg Law, plans on nominating David Keeling to head the Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Keeling oversaw safety at both Amazon.com Inc. and UPS in different positions.

Trump also plans to name Wayne Palmer of Virginia to lead the Mine Safety and Health Administration, according to the document. Palmer was deputy assistant secretary for the MSHA during the first Trump administration.

OSHA under the Biden administration sought to install new regulations protecting workers from high heat and to expand rules for who can join workplace safety inspections, which new officials will have to make decisions on whether to keep or reverse.

Employers should be aware of changes that could occur in OSHA due to new appointees, including decisions on high heat regulations or workplace safety inspection changes.
